ROMAN GOLD RING WITH NICOLO INTAGLIO DEPICTING HERCULES FIGHTING THE NEMEAN LION – SOLD

An ancient Roman gold ring set with Nigolo Intaglio stone with Hercules fighting the Nemean Lion

A perfect quality Roman gold ring with Nicolo Intaglio stone. The oval bezel is set with a Nicolo Intaglio engraved with Hercules Fighting the Nemean Lion.

The first of Hercules’ Twelve Labours, the Nemean Lion, was a mythical beast slain by Hercules as part of his penance. According to Greek mythology, the lion possessed an impervious hide that rendered it invulnerable to conventional weapons. Hercules strangled the lion with his bare hands and later used its own claws to skin it. The lion’s hide became Hercules’ iconic protective cloak, known as the Nemean Lion’s Skin. This formidable feat showcased Hercules’ strength and resourcefulness, solidifying his status as a legendary hero in ancient Greek mythology.
